NECK & SHOULDERS SERIES

Do you have neck or shoulder pain? These issues are often associated with poor posture and inefficient mechanics. In this series we will study the anatomy of the shoulder girdle and upper spine in order to help balance misalignment or heal injury. Through yoga postures, gentle movements and imagery, we will work to create a deeper awareness of our patterns and build strength to support our everyday activities.
Jennifer Chin has been teaching movement since 1990. As a dancer, she began teaching children at the local dance studio, and then moved on to the professional dance world. She received a Masters of Fine Arts in Dance from New York University’s TIsch School of the Arts in 1996, and has taught at many of the city’s top dance centers including The Josè Limòn Institute and Peridance Center. She has also taught and performed around the United States and abroad. Jennifer’s yoga practice began in 1997, studying with Dharma Mittra, from whom she received her Yoga Teaching Certification. She has been teaching yoga since 1999. In 2003, she was introduced to the Iyengar Yoga method and began studying embodied anatomy with Genny Kapuler, all of which has greatly influenced her teaching and way of life. In 2007, Jennifer founded her business, LUMINOUSbody, transformative health and fitness, to offer private lessons and help train other teachers.
